As Interim Chair of Beth Israel Lahey Health’s Primary Care Network, David Longworth, MD, oversees the strategic development of the new network, providing vision and thought leadership until a permanent leader is recruited. He reports to the president and CEO.
David will also continue in his current roles as CEO of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center and Chair of Lahey Health Primary Care. David joined Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in July 2015 as the Chair of the Department of Primary Care and Chief Medical Officer of the Community Physician Network. He became Interim CEO in April 2018 and was appointed to the role permanently later that year.
Prior to joining Lahey, he was Chair of the Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic, where he also led value-based care and population health initiatives. He previously served as Chair of the Department of Medicine at Baystate Medical Center. David started his career at Cleveland Clinic, where he initially spent 16 years, the last 10 as Chair of the Department of Infectious Diseases.
David received his undergraduate degree from Williams College, his medical degree from Cornell University, and completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by fellowship training in infectious diseases in the combined Beth Israel–Brigham program.
