About John Fogarty

As President of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham (BID Needham), John Fogarty leads the 73-bed acute care hospital with a full range of inpatient and outpatient services.

John became President and Chief Executive Officer of BID Needham in 2011 and has led the expansion of services in areas such as breast screening and outpatient and surgical programs, as well as the construction of a comprehensive cancer center and a 37,000-square-foot outpatient clinical center opening this spring. He has focused on enhancing quality and engagement, and received the 2017 Massachusetts Hospital Association Accountable Care Compass Award for Enhancing Culture and Leadership and multiple "A" ratings from the Leapfrog Group. Prior to joining the Beth Israel Deaconess system, John served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CharterCare Health Partners, a system made up of Roger Williams Medical Center and St. Joseph Health Services. He previously spent 22 years at St. Joseph Health Services in Rhode Island, becoming the Chief Executive Officer in 2007. John serves on a number of boards and committees and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, where he serves as President of the Massachusetts chapter.

He earned an undergraduate degree and a Master of Health Services Administration from Xavier University.

John resides in Barrington, Rhode Island with his family.
